में, एक वाक्य में दो मुख्य भाग होते हैं- Subject (उद्देश्य) और Predicate (विधेय)।
वह
व्यक्ति, स्थान,
चीज़ या विचार, जो कुछ कर रहा है या जिसके बारे में हम बात कर रहे हैं, एक वाक्य का subject (उद्देश्य) होता हैं। यानी, हमारे पास बात करने या लिखने के लिए एक subject होना चाहिए, जबकि predicate (विधेय) subject के बारे में कुछ कहता है। आइए हम निम्नलिखित वाक्य पर विचार करें:
Ravi sells computers.
यह वाक्य
एक व्यक्ति, Ravi,
के बारे
में है और यह हमें बताता है कि Ravi क्या करता है। इसलिए Ravi वाक्य का subject है। कुछ अन्य उदाहरण -
Raman plays football.
Sudha and her friends play on the ground.

ध्यान
दिया जाना चाहिए कि subject हमेशा verb के पहले नहीं आता है। ऐसे परिस्थिति होते
हैं, जिसमें subject क्रिया के बाद दिखाई देता है। उदाहरण के लिए, उन वाक्यों
में जो Here या
There से शुरू होता है:
Here comes the bus. यहाँ subject (the bus) क्रिया (comes) के बाद आती है।
There
were ten passengers in the bus. यहाँ subject (ten passengers) क्रिया (were) के बाद आती है।
अधिकांश interrogative sentences में:
Are you ready? इस वाक्य
में subject (you) क्रिया (are) के बाद आता है।
Did Ravi forget to feed birds
again? इस वाक्य में subject (Ravi) क्रिया (did forget) के बाद
आता है।
